Every manuscript arrives in a different state. Some need structural rethinking; others just a final proofread before upload. We scope each project individually, so you pay only for the work that actually matters. Here is a quick look at the core areas we cover.
Developmental editing
We read your full manuscript and return a detailed report on structure, pacing, character consistency, and argument flow. Typical turnaround is three to four weeks for a 70,000-word novel.
Copy editing and proofreading
Line-by-line correction of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style consistency. We work in tracked changes so you see every edit and can accept or reject individually.
Cover design
A custom front cover, spine, and back cover created by our in-house designer. We deliver print-ready PDF and ebook-optimised JPEG, both sized to your distributor's specs.
Interior formatting
We typeset your manuscript for both print (PDF) and ebook (EPUB/MOBI). Running headers, drop caps, table of contents, image placement: all handled.
A small team, a clear focus
Booknimary started in 2018 when two freelance editors decided to pool their skills under one roof. Today we are a team of five: three editors, a book designer, and a project coordinator who keeps everything on schedule.
We work mostly with first-time authors and indie publishers based in Ireland and the UK, though we have handled projects from as far as New Zealand. Our preference is long fiction and narrative non-fiction, but we regularly take on academic monographs, poetry collections, and children's picture books too.
Because we are small, you will always know who is working on your manuscript. No hand-offs to unnamed subcontractors. If you ring our office, the person who answers has probably read your last chapter.
